In most areas, gyms and other small businesses were forced to close their doors for months. But that didn’t mean fitness had to stop. We just had to find different and more creative ways to get it done.
And if you ask me, the skills we learned and resilience we showed during various shutdowns in 2020 will serve us extremely well as things slowly return to some semblance of normalcy in 2021.
I think we have better and more effective ways to be fit and healthy than ever before.
In my experience, the following things will matter more than ever when it comes to achieving the body and health that you want:
Accountability: It is, by far, the thing that holds most folks back from reaching their goals. With more people working out at home, the importance of accountability is even higher now. It’s something we have always placed high value on at Lucky13, and is the crux of our Coaching.
Technology: Results are no longer 100% based on time spent at a physical gym/studio location. It’s now much easier to supplement those gym workouts with structured home workouts (live or on-demand) to amplify your results.
I never thought I’d be a fan of virtual personal training sessions, but one of silver linings of the past year- we have learned that this is a valuable way to Coach people….and we will be keeping it as part of our offeringsgoing forward.
Access: By this, I mean access to your workouts, training program and coaching in ways that are most convenient for you. For example, if you get stuck in traffic and can’t make it to your session, you can simply pull up a workout on your phone or laptop when you get home. And why fight the traffic to make it to an in-person Success Session when you can meet with your coach on Zoom during your lunch break?
Overall Wellness: If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that we need to prioritize supporting our immune system. So access to services like healthy meal plans and high-quality, immunity-boosting supplements is going to be a game-changer.
These are just a few of the things that changed over the past year, and frankly, made health and fitness more important -- and more accessible -- than ever before.
