Let me tell you how most people blow up their fitness program before it even starts.
They go from zero workouts to six days a week.
They go from pizza and bagels to nothing but greens, wild-caught fish, and whole grains overnight.
No sweets. No alcohol. No red meat.
Cold turkey. All at once.
And then they wonder why it doesn’t stick.
I’ve been doing this for nearly 20 years.
I’ve seen people lose weight, move better, feel stronger, transform how they look –
And I’ve watched people quit.
It almost always happens in the same fashion- they do too much, too fast.
There’s a better way.
At Lucky 13, we call it the 1% rule.
Just be 1% better than you were yesterday.
That’s it.
Move a little more.
Eat a little better.
Stress a little less.
Sleep a little more.
Drink a little more water.
Add one more vegetable to your plate.
None of those things feel like much in the moment.
BUT!!!!
Small changes accumulate.
And if you’re rolling your eyes as you read that, consider this:
If you improved just 1% every single day, by this time next year you’d be 365% better than you are right now.
Three hundred and sixty-five percent.
That is how powerful simple consistency can be…. just accumulating small actions over time.
Because consistency always beats intensity or perfection.
There literally is NO perfect workout.
There is NO perfect diet.
And- just to save you some time: you will not find the magic formula on Instagram!!
It’s just you… and the circumstances of your life, right now, today.
That’s your starting point.
And don’t even try to compare that by thinking of what you were once capable of, 10 years ago before kids and before your career took off. That person had more time, less stress, and many fewer obligations.
It’s not comparing apples to apples.
So look at this version of you and where you are…. and start there.
The best results I’ve ever seen didn’t come from the most crazy intense efforts.
They came from people who just kept making one small decision at a time –
And developed a mindset that believed it was adding up.
Because it was.
Don’t try to be perfect.
Just try to be 1% better.
