But rarely does more information help people get started on their weight loss and/or fitness journey.
Today I’d like to share with you some simple Do’s & Don’ts of weight loss so that you can apply these simple concepts and get the ball rolling!
DO’S
- Do realise that you will not lose weight if you’re not in a caloric deficit (even if you’re eating very healthy foods)
- Do focus on getting adequate protein & fiber in your diet each day. These 2 metrics are the most important to put focus on.
- Do pay attention to sleep & stress, as they have direct correlation to one’s ability to lose weight. 6-8hrs/night for sleep, and get some healthy stress management tools in place.
DON’TS
- Don’t randomly assign yourself a number of calories to eat per day… and do not borrow this info from fitness magazines. Instead, get a professional to help you figure out a safe and effective daily calorie goal.
- Don’t forget about the mental and emotional side of things. Cals in vs. cals out is the truth, but if you want to be successful you’ll have to look at the mental and emotional parts of the process.
- Don’t let one hiccup throw you off course. If you got a flat tire in your car, you’d never purposely puncture the other 3. Just because you make one decision that isn’t in alignment with your goal doesn’t mean you should adopt the “F*ck It, I’ve already messed up!” approach. Instead, step back a moment and remember that one choice or action isn’t going to decide anything. Reset and get back on track.
