What You THINK You Need to do to Lose Weight vs. The Truth

Posture
There’s a huge common misconception about what it takes to lose weight.
As in, what are the actual actions to take for successful weight loss.

SO MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE THE WRONG THING, and it leaves them frustrated, confused, and perpetually overweight and overwhelmed.

I saw this with my friend Cheryl.

We were talking the other day and she mentioned that she had given up bread altogether.
She also told me she was doing about 75 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical every day.
Lastly, she said that she cut her calories by “a lot.”

She sounded so proud to be sharing this with me… I could practically hear her smiling over the phone.
I think she was looking for my approval or congratulations.

On the contrary. I was sad and sat there shaking my head.
That’s not how you lose weight in a healthy and safe manner.

There’s something else that people can do that would have an ENORMOUS impact on their ability to lose weight.
So, I said as much to Cheryl.
“Get a grip on your emotional eating” I told her.
Now, I followed that statement up with a lot of validation and empathy.
I wasn’t finger pointing… rather pointing out that there’s this thing that 99.9% of people do, and it’s a huge reason they can’t lose weight.
Perhaps it’s the case for you?

You eat when you’re stressed 😩
You eat when you’re pissed 😑
You eat when you’re sad πŸ˜”
You eat to celebrate πŸ₯³
You eat to console 😒

The key to sustainable weigh loss is to STOP using food to cope emotionally.

And yea, believe me, I know it’s easier said than done.
But we have to stop being afraid of the hard stuff!! The hard stuff is the stuff worth doing!
Get into therapy…. hire a mentor or coach… journal daily…. listen to podcasts…
Do whatever it takes to be able to manage your stress in a healthy way.
Yup, it’ll take time…. but I can’t think of a better use of it. Taking time to change your behaviors so that the way you treat yourself when under stress doesn’t directly conflict with the goals and health objectives you set for yourself.
Getting your emotional eating under control by learning how to handle stress better is the key to looking into the mirror and LOVING WHAT YOU SEE. inside and out.

It’s the key πŸ” to long term success (and weight management!!)

If you’re still reading this and you agree, send me a message ([email protected]). I’d love to know your thoughts and how I can help you on the road to feeling and being your best self.
