I have felt in the past that other trainers look at you and in their heads they note your age/sex and already have a regime planned out regardless of what I actually said. Michelle started out with a fitness assessment that was more focused on how I move rather than how long I can do cardio before passing out. We then spoke about realistic goals and timelines. Michelle flat out told me that in order to achieve my goals I would have to do a combination of “the sexy stuff and the unsexy stuff,” with the latter being what we would focus on in the beginning. I thought it was a really honest experience. I also think that the coaching sessions are a helpful time to continually assess where you are in terms of your goals and things that might be holding you back from reaching them.
