It’s kinda crazy to think about...when I was a kid, I always thought 40 sounded so “old,” but I feel as energetic and young as ever. In fact, I think I’m the most fit that I’ve ever been. Anyway, in light of this big birthday, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking & reflecting…
And I was going to share “40 Lessons I’ve Learned in 40 Years” but I think it all actually boils down to 2 very simple things:
Be grateful every single day for what surrounds you.
Have gratitude for the people, experiences, places, things, etc in your life. Not just the over-the-top awesome stuff, but the everyday stuff too. Never let a day go by without expressing your gratitude to/for something or someone.
Lead with kindness.
In what you say, what you do, the way you think, and how you interact with others in the world. Do it all from a place of kindness. It’s easy to do that when you’re in a good mood, or things are going your way. It’s a much greater challenge to do so when things are tough, or you feel like the world is up against you. But it is those moments when kindness means even more.
That’s it. I think these 2 things truly sum it all up.
And, to relate it directly to fitness: it doesn’t matter what you weigh, it doesn’t matter what your body looks or feels like, if you aren’t truly happy from the inside out.
And if you can’t find something to be grateful for, and act with kindness at whatever weight you’re at now, you still won’t be able to when you’ve reached some “magic” number on the scale. So start by being grateful for YOU, just the way you are...and know that there are plenty of amazing parts of you that exist today, even if there are other things you are striving to improve.
I hope you have a WONDERFUL day. I appreciate YOU!
