The Disney Princess Half Marathon in Orlando, Florida!!!! This was Jackie’s biggest endurance challenge, to date, and she killllled it!
Jackie is a BUSY lady, who didn’t find the time to train for her half marathon, she made the time! Jackie has always worked hard to keep fitness and exercise as part of her life, even with a hectic schedule. She works countless hours for the City of Somerville, is newly married and settling into her home, and has an adorable doggie, Tucker, that requires a lot of time and attention. Given all of her responsibilities, she still makes the time to go running, do fitness DVD’s at home, and come up to the Lucky13Fitness studio for some pre-race mobility and stretching.
I am so proud and happy to share Jackie’s FUN pictures of her race day! AWESOME Job Jackie, keep up the great work!
Jackie’s outdoor training in the middle of a cold Boston winter paid off in the warmer climate. She was accustomed to running on pavement, and adapted to changes in pitch of the ground.
Prior to Jackie’s race, she and I talked about keeping a steady pace in order to maintain consistency throughout the race. A big potential blunder for first time half marathoners is to get overwhelmed by the excitement at the start, and begin the first few miles WAAAAY too fast. This usually results in having to massively slow down or walk at some point.
Today Jackie can only say that she’s SO happy to have this accomplishment under her belt. She’s a bit sore, naturally, but I know she will be back in no time… and she’ll be ready for her next fitness challenge!
